How to Install Hyperspin on Windows 10
Hyperspin is a popular front-end for arcade emulators that allows you to create a custom interface for your games collection. It can be downloaded from here as a full package or as an update to v1.5.1 only. In this article, we will show you how to install Hyperspin on Windows 10 and set up its folder structure.
Step 1: Download Hyperspin
You can download Hyperspin from the official website or from other sources such as Archive.org. The file name is usually Hyperspin.install.1.0.final.zip or something similar. Extract the zip file to a folder of your choice, such as C:\Hyperspin.
Step 2: Edit the settings.ini file
Open the settings folder inside the Hyperspin folder and find the settings.ini file. This file contains various options for configuring Hyperspin, such as the resolution, sound, joystick, etc. The most important thing to edit is the path to your RocketLauncher folder, which is the program that launches the emulators. You can download RocketLauncher from here. Find the line that says [Main] and change the Hyperlaunch_Path value to point to your RocketLauncher folder, for example:
[Main]
Hyperlaunch_Path=C:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe
Save and close the settings.ini file.
Step 3: Learn the folder structure
Hyperspin uses a folder structure that organizes your games by systems and genres. Each system has its own folder inside the Hyperspin folder, such as Atari 2600, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, etc. Inside each system folder, there are subfolders for media, databases, themes, wheels, etc. The media folder contains images, videos, sounds and other files that are used to display the system on Hyperspin. The databases folder contains xml files that list the games for each system and their metadata. The themes folder contains zip files that contain the background, artwork and animation for each game. The wheels folder contains png files that are used as icons for each game on the wheel.
To add a new system to Hyperspin, you need to create a new folder with the system name inside the Hyperspin folder and copy the media, databases, themes and wheels folders from another system or download them from online sources such as Emumovies or Hyperspins FTP and Sync. You also need to edit the Main Menu.xml file inside the databases\Main Menu folder and add a new entry for your system with its name and description.
To add games to a system, you need to copy the rom files to a folder of your choice, such as C:\Roms\Sega Genesis. You also need to edit the system.xml file inside the databases\system name folder and add a new entry for each game with its name, description, genre, year, manufacturer, etc. You also need to copy or download the theme zip file and the wheel png file for each game and place them in the themes\system name and wheels\system name folders respectively.
Step 4: Launch Hyperspin
Once you have set up your systems and games folders, you can launch Hyperspin by double-clicking on the Hyperspin.exe file inside the Hyperspin folder. You will see a wheel with all your systems on it. You can use your mouse or joystick to scroll through them and select one by clicking or pressing enter. You will then see another wheel with all your games for that system. You can scroll through them and select one by clicking or pressing enter again. You will then see a preview of the game theme and hear some sound effects 061ffe29dd
